About two weeks ago, I did a “Box opening” post on the 10C. I have spent quite a bit of time with it, playing with the menu and exploring the new features(not that there are that many…). Since I got this as a replacement for my old 9C, I will be comparing it to the 9C in this review. Because [...]

Got a Futaba 10C set this weekend. I got the 2.4 version, there is also a PCM version which comes with the 149DP rx that. This thing does not work with G3 PCM. To use pcm1024 on a 2.4 set, a PCM module from the 9C is required. I tried the pcm module off [...]

Just had the pilots meeting over 670 registered pilots and that was YESTERDAY. Wait until today. They gave away 2 prizes: Futaba 7C and a RealFlight G4 Simulator. Very nice.

Well I am sure that many of you may have been waiting for the 10C. I was surely looking to get one but I wasn’t to keen on the 72mhz/2.4ghz intergration.
To me, it just seemed like Futaba just added on 2.4ghz to an exsisting platform instead of designing one from the ground up. Maybe thats not the case but that my perception. I did get a chance to put my hands on one this weekend here in L.A. and it is an impressive looking radio for the price point of $599 MAP.
Looks like most of the shops that did get the first batch. A quick look I found shows they had some at Tower Hobbies but seem to be all out now.
Find out where to get them and see video overview…….

Well if you are in the market for a new affordable radio this is one you should consider. Myself, previously having a Spektrum DX7, I was happy with it. I sold all of my helicopter “stuff” so that we could finance this website. So now that I am back in the “black” I decided to buy a radio and the 7C seems to be a really nice radio. I got a really good deal on this radio since it was from a friend but the retail on the radio is around $250 without servos. The included receiver is the R617FS which is one piece unlike the Spektrum which they say two pieces gives better signal diversity and reliability.
I think my biggest complaint about the Spektrum DX7 was the weight of the radio and the stupid balance of the neck strap loop. Well its all good that someone now has a new business making neck strap balance attachments why didn’t they just move the mounting point from the get go. The DX7 was feather light which almost made it seem like a toy. The 7C is significantly heavier and feels solid. Of course their are pros and cons of both radios but for me this one suits me better. I think the only thing I am not happy with is the low battery capacity of the 7C but the DX7 didn’t run forever either. If you are a hard core all day flyer you will want to replace the stock batter with a lipo but I am pretty sure that voids your warranty if they know about it.
