Well if you are in the market for a new affordable radio this is one you should consider. Myself, previously having a Spektrum DX7, I was happy with it. I sold all of my helicopter “stuff” so that we could finance this website. So now that I am back in the “black” I decided to buy a radio and the 7C seems to be a really nice radio. I got a really good deal on this radio since it was from a friend but the retail on the radio is around $250 without servos. The included receiver is the R617FS which is one piece unlike the Spektrum which they say two pieces gives better signal diversity and reliability.
I think my biggest complaint about the Spektrum DX7 was the weight of the radio and the stupid balance of the neck strap loop. Well its all good that someone now has a new business making neck strap balance attachments why didn’t they just move the mounting point from the get go. The DX7 was feather light which almost made it seem like a toy. The 7C is significantly heavier and feels solid. Of course their are pros and cons of both radios but for me this one suits me better. I think the only thing I am not happy with is the low battery capacity of the 7C but the DX7 didn’t run forever either. If you are a hard core all day flyer you will want to replace the stock batter with a lipo but I am pretty sure that voids your warranty if they know about it.
