Shown on Kasama’s web site today are the latest shots of the upcoming SRIMOK 90 Electric. We have been following this story for a while now posting CAD drawings as they are released by Mr. Kasama. Now we get a glimpse of the first real life prototype. In true Kasama style, it’s takes very little from current designs and brings something very unique and fresh to the market. You can bet many of the SRIMOK nitro parts will carry over, but wait to see what is different on the electric version. WARNING this is no simple nitro to electric conversion!
The single most unique thing about the design is the motor mount and shaft. Kasama is designing the SRIMOK 90 around the Scorpion 4035 brushless motor for it’s obvious popularity in the 90 electric market. Instead of using traditional motor pinions, he has designed a completely new all-in-one motor shaft and pinion that replaces the stock one in the motor. The motor is then mounted inverted and the pinion on the new motor shaft comes out the opposite side of the motor then normal.
As depicted in the CAD drawings it looks like Kasama might be settling on a battery configuration of one pack up front while the second pack is directly under the motor.
Keep in mind this is the very first prototype and by no means the final design. Mr Kasama says they are moving forward with testing immediately, and are interested in releasing the new heli very soon.
