A spy shot of the new YS 56 engine from Japan!

A select few Japanese and American pilots have been secretly testing this new power plant for an indeterminate period. These photos were published on Black Product’s diary page, a high-end producer of F3C fuselages and upgrades for Hirobo models.
The new engine has a new carburetor now employing 3 needle valves (idle, mid and high) allowing for dialing in the perfect tune for each portion of the throttle range. The crankcase is a newly machined peice as well.
The production version will be debuted at the 2009 Shizuoka Hobby Show, May 14-17. YS will be taking orders for the Japanese market first, then at a later date for the US. My source anticipates we’ll see these hit out shores at some point during the summer months.
One of the American pilots has put over 75 flights on his test engine without any problems. YS is known for their smooth running, consistency and good power. An entry in the Black Products’ diary mentions these characteristics to be true of the new motor, also noting that it runs quiet too.
Be sure to stay tuned to RCHR for more news on this incoming powerhouse!
Also watch out for Rudiger Feil’s upcoming YS 91 SR 3C RR, a warmed over version of his already potent RR variant!
