A flying buddy of mine recently converted his RJX X-treme 50 to flybarless with the Skookum Robotics SK-360 “Digital Flybar”. After seeing the maiden of his X-50, I got interested and started reading up…Along the way, I found this article of converting a Align 700N head to flybarless. What got my attention was that this method of conversion allows the user to switch back to a mechanical flybar quick, without costing anything.
700N conversion- While the following mod was done for the SK-360, it will also work for other flybarless systems.

“A customer requested to mod his Trex 700 N, with the following requests:
- keep the same geometry
- able to switch back to flybar quick
- cheap ..
strange request but understandable; anyway, customers come first, we are here to serve them. Besides, this is not mission impossible.
After quick discussion, we finished that in an hour, without even need to adjust any linkage
1) remove the head from the bird
2) making a follower by drilling two holes on the washout base and tap them for 3mm threaded key as shown
3) replace the washout base mixing arms with those from Trex 600 but instead the short arms, the “Y” shaped arms were installed on the longer side, locked with m3 key
4) remove the flybar
5) install a 88 mm long m4 thread into where the flybar rod was, use two liners and two nuts between the seesaw and center hub, plus two nuts outside the seesaw. Tighten them all up and loctite please.
Done and the bird is flying +/- 13 collective and 8 cyclic.
Should he wants to change it back to flybar control, just loose the lock key on the washout base, put the flybar back on and switch the SK 360 in set up mode. ”
