However, the FlightPower pack, that is a friend's was all that was available to me at the time. I felt it was still a worthy comparison since it illustrates that you can get nearly "premier" performance out of a much less expensive battery. In my experience FlightPower and Thunder Power packs have historically been considered some of the best and most popular lipos on the market. Obviously, there is a lot of competition and I have found particular brands that do excel in other areas. Nonetheless, I used what was readily available at the time.

dg: thank you!

BeeBop: I am certainly aware that the Outrage NRG pack isn't the cheapest pack on the market. However, for the money you get a battery that is designed to solidly perform consistently over the course of many cycles. This requires a high quality chemistry that purportedly other cheaper brands can't hold up to across the board. Also, you're buying into an excellent brand with excellent customer support, people who are easily accessible by phone, speak clear English and will go out of their way to make you happy. I should have noted that in my article, but most people seem to be willing to sacrifice the customer service element in order to get a cheaper product. I guess it doesn't become a issue until a problem is experienced. Also, while the Outrage packs are made overseas, buying from HeliDirect helps support American jobs, as in keeping the guys/gals at the shop employed. I feel that's also a worthy thing to do.

xf100t: As I noted in my review, I would have preferred to have had opportunity to compare this pack to a more direct competitor. American distributors are still non-competitive with Asian sources. A $115 6s 30C 2500mah is definitely in the premium price category.

This is considered a value LiPo? Are you kidding? However, I don't understand why flightpower was used as the benchmark to compare against. Flight power is widely considered to be inferior to most other brands of lipo batteries, and cost much more to boot. I would've found this article much more useful if the comparison had been against a similar CX hyperion battery that is supposedly capable of 5C charge rates.

These kind of tests are nice and should be done more often.
