Lynx Heli Innovations makes a number of useful metal upgrades.  RCHR review editor Andrew Griffith got to take a look a few of them.  Read on to see what he thought…..

I looked over the Lynx Heli Innovations parts that I was sent for review.  My first impression is that the quality was high and the machine work was excellent.

The first item I took a look at is the boom support clamp for the Align 600 series helicopters.  It would be easier to obtain these parts prior to assembling your model as retrofitting it to my 600N required removal of the entire tail boom, then removal of the boom from the frame mount.

I removed the front pushrod guide, and slid the boom clamp in place.   As my Trex had one of the original plastic boom support clamps that used self tapping screws, I had to procure two machine screws to bolt the boom supports to the clamp.  Install these before you tighten the machine screw the holds the clamp in place.  As always, use a dab of thread lock on all three screws.  With everything tight this felt like a much more “substantial” installation than the original plastic parts and it looked a whole lot better.

There is no provisions for mounting a horizontal fin but many people, especially those that fly backwards a lot, prefer to fly without out.

Next up was the canopy rod set for the Trex 600E and Trex 500 helicopters.

Installation can be accomplished by using the thumb screws or installing the quick release pins and allowing them to protrude through the grommets.  The thumb screws are nicely machined and are easy to grip even if your hands are slippery or cold.  Retrofitting the canopy mounting rods is easy and takes just a few minutes to accomplish.  The finished installation is both attractive and extremely stout.  Replacement thumb screws and quick release pinsare available in 5 packs from Lynx and their distributors.

Overall the Lynx Heli Innovations upgrade parts are excellent quality, and a good value.  They add both functionality and visual appeal to your helicopter, and spare parts are readily available.
