The Birmingham 2011 Fun Fly was a blast. It got even better when the lights went out. Click for photo gallery.
The following images are provided courtesy of photographer Mike O’Rourke. Mike is a member of Atlanta RC Club and was an attendee and pilot at the Brimingham 2011 Fun Fly.
I was able to identify 2 of the pilots that these photographs were taken of. A couple of the other pilots scurried off into the darkness before we could identify them. Shannon Mooneyham of Sparta Tenessee is one of the pilots and his friend Donnie Rogers was also one of the pilots in these photos. Shannon was kind enough to share some information about his setup.
Configuration:
- T-Rex700
- os91hz engine
- JRr8717 servos
- Hatori sb20 pipe
- Maverick G5 wide cord blades
- Spartan DS760 Gyro
- Rev Max limiter
- Spectrum AR7100 RX
- JR9303 TX
The lights on the Shannon’s blades are home made with copper tape and LEDSs with resistors. The others lights on the heli come in a roll that stick on the heli. It took approximately 4 hrs to fix the lights on the heli and soldier all the leads. The leds on the blades are powered by the an eFlite 1s 500 mah batteries and the LEDs on the rest of the heli are powered by a Thunder Power 1320mah 3s battery. The first photo below has been confirmed as Shannon’s flight.
A special thanks to Mike O’Rourke of Atlanta RC Club for sharing his fantastic photography.
