The Huntsville Heli Flyers annual fun fly was held last weekend, April 15 -17, 2011, and even though the weather was mostly un-cooperative this year, a good time was certainly had by all. The weather didn’t keep this reporter from having a blast, hanging out with old friends, making new ones, and getting a few photos along the way.

With near constant rain all day Friday only a few brave soles were willing to go out during the couple of dry spells during the day. Ez-ups were down and most pilots were either hunkered down in a camper or RV or were back in town racing mCP-X’s down hotel hallways, amongst other things.
Saturday was at least dry but windy and a good bit cold. Registration opened as did the on-site vendors. The flags went up and the party got started. Many of your favorite pros and personalities were in attendance including Bobby Watts, Bert Kammerer, Matt Botos, Jason Krause, Alan Szabo Jr., Nick Maxwell, Marcus Kim, Jason Bell, Mike Fortin, Tony Whiteside, Henry Caldwell, Kyle Stacy, Steven Fox, and Jason Adamo just to name a few. I also met Jamie Dumanski and his 5-year old son Mason. Dad brought young Mason to the event and had him on the buddy box doing his first flips and inverted hover. Good flying Mason! Keep up the good work!
Congratulations to John Wolfe for winning the grand prize T-Rex 700E 3G kit, complete with two Voltz 6S 5100 packs, a Castle 120HV, Futaba CGY750, and Futaba 8FG radio! Special thanks to the HHF team and all of the vendors and sponsors for making this another great year. Even through the weather, the final count was 103 registered pilots. Enjoy the photos and we’ll be looking forward to next year!
