BeastRX and microBEAST

BeastX’s/Freakware’s new BeastRX receiver in action. It understands Futaba’s FASST protocol and is compatible with both 7CH and MULTI mode, thus modules such as TM-8 and TM-14. Binding is super-fast. Nice!
The SRXL single line connection to microBEAST works great as well (similar to Futaba S-bus).
Only downside at the moment is that maybe it’s a bit big especially for small helis (250 and 450 size).

Software version 3.0 for the mB has been published a few days ago. We haven’t updated all our mB yet but already 4 of them and done the first flights. What can we say – it so far works great!
Don’t forget that updating to an entirely new software versions means you have to repeat the complete setup! If you’re lucky not much needs to be changed, but chances are you do need to adjust e.g. the potis. So don’t skip this step. Version 3 also gives you functions such as a REVO mix look-ahead gain, cyclic response adjust (yeah, should always be lightning-fast and hyper-direct!
) and pitch boost as partly known from other systems.
But hey – remember! If e.g. your tail is rock solid already, then don’t mess around with your setup. Some new functions are great to improve and solve problems. But: If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!
UPDATE: Contrary to what is written in the instructions manual DO NOT program a failsafe on your Tx. Doing so will lead to a noticeable motor shutdown every 10 seconds. This is because the FASST protocol sends a failsafe info every 10 seconds which is not interpreted as such by the BeastRX. Therefore, if you set the F/S on your Tx with throttle low you’ll experience an engine shut-down every 10 seconds.
If you want F/S with the BeastRX, just follow the very easy way to program it directly into the receiver. As a plus you then have F/S function on all channels also in 7CH mode. Again: The current instructions leaflet coming with the BeastRX gives a wrong impression.
