Today, courtesy of Lynx Heli Innovations (the U.S. Distributor for Novarossi products), we received the Novarossi Rex 91HR-3D engine, the Rex H9 Venturi Header and the Rex H9 Tuned Pipe.  We did some tear down and rebuild and got it into the 700 but due to the rain we were not able to flight test it.  We will get into more detail about tuning and power characteristics tomorrow.  Today we will just outline a few initial observations.

  • Shim adjustable head to tune for optimum compression based on fuel used.  We opted for 4mil and 30% nitro fuel.
  • Two piece head design in case you cross thread the head you will only replace the head not the head heat sink which will save some repair cost.
  • Insulated carb allowing better seating and isolating the heat from the carb body allowing more consistent tuning.
  • Bolt through engine case design similar to OS.  Easier removal and repair.
  • Separate header/exhaust design similar to Hatori design with o-rings and dampeners.
  • Smooth flow venturi header similar to Kasama header allowing better flow and more power.
  • Included plug for exhaust pressure tap indicating a possible future pressurized system.
  • 8 transfer ports.
