JR’s all aluminum case 8.4v high voltage 8711HV and 8717HV servos have been very well received even at the high price point.  Announced in Japan last month is the next installment in the series; 6311HV, 6315HV, 6321HV, and 6325HV high volt servos.

Also completely new from JR, in response to Futaba’s very successful BLS brushless servo line, is the new MP servo line.  These include the MP70, MP80G, and MP80T.  The MP80G is a brushless equivalent to the 8900G brushed gyro tail servo.  Futaba no longer has the monopoly on the brushless tail servo market and with a 0.05sec response time, it will certainly will be a contender.

Savöx Tech out of Tawian has announced a new line of brushless servos to be released mid 2009.  What’s so special about them, well they are the first brushless servos on the market that are factory rated for 8.4v (i.e. 2s lipo).   8.4v has become very popular on the cyclic servos, but what about the tail servo?  Well Savöx also has announced not only a 8.4v cyclic servo but also a 8.4v tail servo.

I just, myself, switched to an 8v setup on my Aling T-Rex 700 and I must say there is a world of difference from 5v and 6v systems.  I am running direct from my lipo using the Arizona Fromenco Kiwi.  Surprisingly I AM NOT using 8717′s but I am using Futaba 9452s with NO PROBLEMS.  I am always aware that they could die any second but seems not to be the case, so far.

Hi-Tec has come out with an 7.4v (8v) line of servos that aren’t super great but at least give you confidence they have been tested at 8v without failures.

Align is always busy with something! Check out the new metal tail servo mount for your T-Rex heli! Displayed on the mount is the “T-Rex500″ wording, very nice touch Align! Available soon at your local Align distributors.

If the DX6i was not cheap enough, spektrum has stepped up the game again and has released the Spektrum DX5e! It comes with the radio, an AR500 reciever, and 4 AA batteries, all at a whopping $99 price point.

A while back, one of the local hobby shops in my area started carrying these Ino-Lab servos from Korea. While they are neither very fast nor really torquey(like those JR 8717 on 7.4v), they are still pretty decent and at the very least, still compares well to the current “decent” digital servos like the Futaba BLS451/BLS252 servos and the Hi-tec 69XX/79XX series. The best part is that it only cost half of what the Futaba BLS series and JR8715/8915, the 8717 for non-US market, are going for.

YES! You didn’t read the headline incorrectly. It seems that the only thing R/C that Align hasn’t release is nitro fuel (ok..TX & RX too..). I Hope they get the first release of these servos right.

Hitec 7975HB- Probably just a rebadged servo…Align might not even rebadge it.

Not sure why, but they look like savox servos to me. The spec seems to be the same too, but I am not certain if they really are, so don’t quote me on that

I saw these servos in a guy’s helicopter here in L.A. and wanted to see what these were all about. Well, at $169.00 (MSRP) a piece I don’t think that I will be buying any anytime soon. Specs are silly fast.
