Wednesday had a lingering haze that took the good part of the day to burn off.  Thursday however was a perfect bluebird day at sunrise and then a couple scattered clouds rolled in later in the day.  Most the day a slight breeze kept us from cooking too much in the Indiana summer sun.  The flight line went from being 75% full to pretty much 100% full today.  There were pop-up canopies from one end to the other, and a second row forming on the other side of the mid alley.  Every flight station I passed by had anywhere from 3-6 people waiting to fly, the flight line was extremely busy today.  Vendors were completely setup and ready to show off all the latest products they brought with them.  I’m stunned by the amount of vendor booths at IRCHA, they alone are bigger then most fun flies.  Read on for some highlights of today’s activities…

Touted as a true “native electric 90 design”, the Avant Aurora 90E officially splashed onto vendor row late Thursday.  The 90 electric market has really taken off this season and Avant has answered those wishes with a electric flavor of their popular nitro heli.

Elevator Servo Mount design provides superior CCPM elevator control, with an Aluminum 6061-T6 frame that prevents flex during high-torque maneuvers and provides a strong foundation for the elevator servo (no more stripped plastic threads!). Four 10mm screws are provided for frame mounting and four 14mm screws are provided to install the elevator servo for rock-solid control.

For the past couple months we have been reporting on the progress of a new comer to the 2-stroke heli engine arena, KME engines.  They have gone after the “big block” 50 size market for people who are looking to squeeze more power into those 600 size heli’s.

Well, the time has come!  KME has released final production pictures of the Diamond .60 Pro engine as well as specifications.  The new engine will be on display at IRCHA and is expected to start shipping within the next 30 days.  You can expect to see more details here very soon as well as a full review in the near future.

Castle Creations announces this week their latest product that is now shipping, the CC BEC PRO.  The CC BEC PRO builds on the very popular CC BEC with higher battery input voltage as well as higher continuous and peak amp output.  The CC BEC PRO does not replace the CC BEC, but instead adds to the product portfolio a BEC that can handle the demands of high amp draw servos in larger heli, plane, and car applications.
