Looks like we got a video of a production unit of the new DJI multirotor and Gimbal. Looks solid in those windy conditions. Amazing.

No details were sent with these sneak pictures but I did see this unit in action over in Taiwan at the 2011 Align Fun Fly and the prototype seemed to run well. Looks like Align is close to being done with this unit and our buddy “J.L.” got the scoop. Thanks for sending these in. Hopefully we can get some more information soon on this unit surely aimed at the APV market.[ click to see videos, photos & rest of story ]

All of you know that we are big on UAV and Multi Rotor technology. Copter Kids has been in the business for a while. They fly both single rotor and multi-rotor ships mostly running Photoship One gimbals. Trent and the team just finished up the reel for 2011 and we wanted to share it with you. I will be doing my own reel soon as well however it wont be as amazing as Trents shots.[ click to see videos, photos & rest of story ]

Many of you may know DJI best for their awesome multirotor controllers but looks like DJI has “spread their wings” and now has release a new octocokpter called the SW800 as an upgrade to their Flamewheel 550 and a camera gimbal called the ZEMMUSE Z15 that is insanely stable.
Like the GAUI 500x we will be doing a review on all of DJI products and hope to have nothing but good things to say about them. We have already received and are in the process of reviewing their Flamewheel 450, 550, Naza and Wookong and all of those products are amazing so far.
We are currently awaiting a test unit but Gaui is claiming their new Gaui INS is a vast improvement over their last multirotor flight controller, the 344. The INS is more stable, has position hold and gimbal control/stabilization as well. One of our colleagues, Marcus Geilhard has been testing a unit now for a few months and last weekend at an event we filmed together he put it through its paces. Check out the aerial footage.[ click to see videos, photos & rest of story ]
I spoke with our good friend Lucien Miller about their offerings of combos for the Next Level line. Lucien said customers were asking what they would need to get their machine in the air. Well, to help everyone out, Lucien has come up with combos for both the 650 and 500 sizes in standard and hi-power versions.

There is very interesting tests going on from the team at Aerospace Controls Laboratory – MIT. Here is tests of a variable-pitch quadrotor. Using a variable-pitch system allows the quadrotor to perform better than the traditional fixed-pitch quadrotor with extreme flight attitudes and maneuvers.
Could this be the beginning of extreme 3D quadrotor flying?

If you see something familiar about the screen shot above, then you probably know who I am talking about. Here is an amazing vid from one of the best videographers in the industry.
