Our friends at Radio Control Rotorworld recently announced the passing of a great man in the rc heli industry. We are deeply saddened to report that Mr. Keitaro Matsusaka, Hirobo Limited Chairman, passed away on Wednesday 29 June 2011 at 9:29am after having been receiving medical treatment for some time.

These are some ambitious guys. Arnaud Taffanel, Tobias Antonsson, and Marcus Eliasson from Daedalus Projects have built another quadrocopter prototype. This one is really tiny that it fits in the palm of your hand. As reported on Engadget, the CrazyFlie is controlled by a Bluetooth Playstation controller. Following on the heels of the concept image a little over a month ago, Align has released the 700 New Design Main Rotor Head Assembly. This is one advanced assembly which allows pilots, both 3D and F3C, to adjust the head to their liking or flying style. To get the details and view the pics, please continue on.

MIT has created software that stabilizes QuadCopter drones equipped with a Microsoft Kinect Camera. The collected data can then be translated into a 3D model. This would be an interesting way to collect 3D flying site data for use in your favorite flight simulator. Imagine sending your drone out to capture the terrain of your local flying club so you can fly at home on the simulator during rainy days. The FAA is developing new regulations that may place onerous and unnecessary restrictions on the hobby, sport and educational pursuit of model aviation.  It is extremely important that all aeromodeling enthusiasts stand up and tell congress to protect model aviation from pending federal regulation by the FAA.
