As you know we covered 2009 Orlando Heli Blowout in Apopka, Florida this weekend.  I myself, totally underestimated this event and I am thankful that it was as big as it was.  Even though Wednesday, Thursday and Friday started off a bit cold…Saturday and Sunday were amazing.  This is one for the record books.  Second year, over 212 registered pilots…and about 500 people on site. Great flying, demos, contest, raffles and huge sponsor support…as well as the thankless efforts of Team OHB and RCAF members who made it all happen behind the scenes.  As I sit here on my flight back to LAX writing this….as with every fun fly….I wish I could bring you EVERYTHING the event has to offer but it looks like we have done so by getting the word out for the event coordinators and motivating more people to come the gatherings.

UPDATE: Over 151 Pre-registered pilots and 12 RVs camped out so far!

The 2009 Orlando Heli Blowout is going to be a hit. Mother Nature is doing way better than last year…forcasting 82 degree Fahrenheit for Saturday. Lets hope this forecast holds and I will be one happy camper. Looks like there are over 100 PRE-REGISTERED pilots already. This is going to be a great event. We will be donating the new RCHR hats to the event. So if you cant afford to order one…or just cant catch them in stock you better get one in Orlando.

The Orlando Radio Control Helicopter Society (TORCHS) 1-Day Mini Blowout held last Saturday was a tremendous success.  There were lots of friends, food, and flying all day and fun was had by all.

I know it’s a little early but I wanted to tell you that The Orlando Radio Control Helicopter Society (TORCHS) is proud to announce that we’re doing it again.  Building off the success of last years event which hosted many top pilots and had over 120 registered pilots, TORCHS has set the dates for its 2nd Annual Orlando Heli Blowout.  The dates are December 11, 12, and 13, 2009.  I have attached the new flyer for this years event which at this time is rather empty as far as sponsers goes but as committments are made the flyer will be updated and I will keep you posted on updates as well.
