It is time to let everyone know what has been going on with V-Blades. As most of you know we have not been in production for the last few months and there are several reasons I want to explain at this time.

The first reason is that I finally came to the conclusion that I was not able to keep up with the incredible demand that we have had since we started making V-Blades 14 years ago. I always thought that we could expand just a little more to satisfy the immediate demand, but that was just not the case. All we kept doing was creating bigger problems in that we never could expand big enough at one time, hopefully that will be a thing of the past!

The next reason were labor issues; the old saying “you just can’t find good help” is very true and I was getting tired of fighting with the problem of keeping employees happy and doing a good job at making blades that we could be proud of! The last reason and probably the most important is that I am not getting any younger, and for the last couple of years I have found that my job was more about keeping the factory running smoothly and if we were to increase supply to satisfy the demand I would have had to add another shift and I was just plain old tired of managing people. Managing people is not my strong suit, but it has taken me 14 years to realize it, I guess I am a little stubborn!

I have decided to move our manufacturing plant out of the US in an effort to make more blades to satisfy the demand. I know that this will disappoint some of you, but I feel that this move will fix our problems of never being able to make enough blades and always having to tell customers that they would have to wait for their order to be sent out. We will now be manufacturing V-Blades in Malaysia, I will still be doing all the R&D and working on new stuff and I will actually be able to concentrate more on what I needed to be doing all the time which is improving the product as well as making new products! Another perk for me is that I will be able to go to more funflys, promote the product better and even enjoy the hobby again! The blades will be made exactly the same way that we have been making them only in a lot larger quantity so that hopefully none of you will have to wait for your blades ever again.

We have not sold the company to China or Taiwan but we have elected to move the factory to Malaysia, which has a very good work force and some of the most talented people that I have met. My wife Sherry and I spent several weeks in Malaysia helping to setup the new factory and I must say that I was very impressed with the people and the facilities that were purposely built to make V-Blades! Like I said before I know that some of you will be disappointed that we moved out of the US to do manufacturing, but Malaysia is not China and this is not going to be a sweat shop environment where little kids are forced to work for 50 cents a day! Malaysia is a very technology oriented country and a lot of big companies have manufacturing facilities there. The people seem to take pride in their work, so I feel the blades that will be produced there will be as good or maybe even better than what those we made here in the US!

Finally, production is not up to full speed yet but we are now getting some test sets for our sponsored pilots who will be using the new blades in the next few weeks to evaluate their flight performance, if all goes well V-Blades should be available to the public in about 4 to 6 weeks or just in time for this flying season. I apologize for the move taking so long, I totally miscalculated the amount of time that it would take to make all this happen! Thank you for your support and I hope you will try a set of the new blades!
