Since the release of the 700N, there have been many asking Align if a 700E is in the pipeline. No, was the answer. Some question about the feasibility of big electrics, while others thought electrics might be the future. Without a doubt, this is a segment of the market that does not see as much competition, but the offerings are all pretty well designed(and pricey) machines like the 3DMP, Joker and Ion-X. So a 700E will finally make cheap big electrics a reality, granted, if cheap, big and electric should ever appear in the same sentense.
If you have been waiting for a T-rex 700 E-conversion kit, then wait no more. It is here, at a reasonable 199EUR.
This frame is a very neat design and make the heli looks like a E-heli off the drawing board from the very first day. The swashplate has been rotated 180degrees with the ccpm mixing arms flipped over. The ccpm mixing shaft has been shifted to the rear to accomodate the motor in front. From what I can see, the drive train, rotor head and tail assembly are the stock ones, which means you will need a whole lot of the 700N parts. It is probably going to be cheaper to buy a 700N kit, sell the pair of frames and get the conversion kit than to get the conversion kit and whatever parts you need from loose spare packs. There are a few videos around and looking good, but in all honesty, other than the climbout, the electric version does not really look that much faster than a nitro ship. Still, numbers don’t lie. The 700E in the video have been measured to produce close to 6kw(over 8hp) at over 140A.
